We are moving into the next phase of our campaign with this, our new message, Move it Mali, and a digital billboard in prominent positions, starting on Easter Monday at the intersection of Anzac Highway and West Beach Rd (we already have a smaller billboard on North East Rd).

Hello all,

Move It Mali urges the premier to move the development activity to the Victoria Square precinct, and to develop Festival Plaza, as was always intended, as a low-rise cultural space.

The outline of our overall scheme, Festival Plaza+, is here - if you haven't seen it. It would energise the whole city by renewing two city precincts in the one exercise, Festival Plaza and Victoria Square.

We aim to run the billboard campaign, on a week by week basis, for 4 weeks - depending on your support!

Our only constraint is money. We will be booking space on a weekly basis. The first week costing $2500- it's a special location, and subsequent weeks around $1200 per week. We are getting special last minute rates.

But we are relying entirely on your support for this. We hope we have it. We see this as potentially more effective than a full page newspaper ad.

Please donate if you can. We intend to have a money barometer on our website indicating how the week’s fundraising is going, day by day, given that we will be attempting to recoup the cost of the first ad, which has generously under-written.

Note that digital sites constantly rotate through up to 10 slides, each one about a minute each, we have had a smaller one on North East Rd for over four weeks.

In summary, there is something seriously wrong here and we are asking how and why this has happened. We are mindful though that it took more than three years before the Motorola affair was concluded by the resignation of John Olsen. We are here for the long haul. This affair bathes Adelaide in ordure, and, long term, we cannot afford a building of no civic use, that represents huge issues of process, as the central focus of the city, visible everywhere.

This is not the usual planning issue. In fact, at bottom it's not a planning issue, but misappropriation by state government of the most significant space in the city and its use for a clearly unintended purpose. This has generated major planning issues on top of that.

Adelaide, after all, was promised an open low-rise civic square with its huge potential for vitality multiplier effects, and is, incredibly, instead, having the CBD extended onto park land by a huge structure of no rationale.
We have still not had an answer to our question regarding the Premier and Cabinet moving into Tower 2- this would represent a major conflict of interest and an unthinkable abuse of process.

Please donate. Bank details are below. Let's see if we can manage to run a billboard for 4 weeks! If you drive by the location remember, though, that the slide will rotate through as one of ten.

Thank you, and very best,

Rob, for the alliance,
