You are the supporters that keep on giving by signing this petition and sharing, and sharing. Thank you very much. We have been a bit quiet for a while but we are not going away. Our great banner maker has been flat out making banners. We have taken down the first lot of slogans, and she is now refreshing them with new slogans that we shall put up soon, alongside more action. Watch this space!
My solicitor has received a number of holding responses to my letter before action to the Council, but the Council's overdue response is expected any day. We had the same problem before Christmas when Brighton & Hove City Council ran down our time to get information before everyone took leave for the Christmas/New Year holiday break.
Meanwhile, the streets along the diversion route are showing that the weight limit of 7.5 T was there for a reason. The street road surfaces were not designed for, nor built, to take 690 15 T + buses every day. After 6 weeks, Upper North Street has had urgent repairs twice, once overnight finishing in the early hours of the morning. The Temporary Traffic Order, that removed the weight limit and that we believe to be unlawful, is for 104 weeks! Check out our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/WRRAG for frequent updates.
Meanwhile the Western Road project is proceeding at a glacial pace with only 2 gangs of 4 people each working on it, providing no-one's off work for any reason. They start work at 7:00 am with a briefing, get out on their work sites at 7:30 am, pack up at 3:30 pm so they can finish work at 4:00 pm. Brighton & Hove City Council has set the timeframe, and they are proceeding as fast as the Council will allow them to. We would have thought there was plenty of opportunity to double the number of shifts, and to work weekends but that depends on the Council.
