The Issue

YouTube, once a platform of endless entertainment and joy, has now become frustrating due to the incessant and lengthy ads. I've always turned to YouTube for its vast content library - be it for education, hobbies, laughter, or relaxation. But recently, the experience has taken a toll with the introduction of 60-second unskippable ads, which disrupt the viewing experience and drain the joy out of discovering new content.

It feels like YouTube has made a shift from prioritizing user experience to focusing solely on profit-making, with longer, unavoidable ads. This not only tests the patience of viewers but also hinders the creators whose content is being interrupted unfairly. Studies have shown that long, unskippable ads can lead to decreased satisfaction and reduced engagement on platforms, ultimately affecting the user base and the community that makes YouTube unique.

One effective solution could be for YouTube to revert back to its older advertising model, where ads were either skippable after 5 seconds or capped at shorter durations. This can balance the needs of advertisers and platform users, ensuring a fair content-viewing environment for all.

Let's remind YouTube of the reasons millions around the world fell in love with the platform. Our collective voice can inspire change to enhance user satisfaction and respect for both viewers and content creators.

Join me in calling on YouTube to stop 60-second unskippable ads and make YouTube watchable again. Sign this petition to advocate for a better viewing experience for all.
