Turves Road Crossing

Turves Road Crossing
The Issue
I am Stockport resident specifically Cheadle Hulme with 2 young children of school ages 11 and 7. Recently on July 9th my eldest son whilst crossing the road on his way home from school was sadly involved in a road traffic collision. Thankfully and by good fortune more than anything else he escaped with injuries to his legs breaking his left shin and bones in his right foot. He is well on with his rehabilitation now and weekly x rays.
Whilst at the moment he doesn't feel particularly lucky he has avoided serious life changing injuries
The stretch of road (Turves Road) by the fire station is where the incident took place and in light of this somewhat close call I began to investigate a number of points.
Firstly the new Laurus school which is gradually intaking more and more pupils year on year. Added in to this the already present schools of Cheadle Catholic Infant and Junior school, Bradshaw Hall school, Oak Tree Primary and Cheadle Hulme Grammar school. This equates to thousands of children all utilising this stretch of road and is within a mile of all schools where the incident took place. These children travelling in varying directions have only 2 safe places to cross and these 2 places (one at the main lights junction in Cheadle Hulme the other at the Co-Op around 1 mile away.
The aim of this petition is to have additional areas for all of these children to cross safely from one side of Turves Road to the other enabling them to be safe and secure on their travels to and from home. I am suggesting at least one traffic lighted crossing between Henley Avenue and Conway Road at the base of the hill where cars pick up speed on the descent down before the climb up Turves and on to the small precinct onthe right.
Thanks
