Recently a bid was tendered for a new Pelee Island ferry - the bid went to a ship builder in Chile. This was an opportunity to create jobs and drive the economy in a region of Ontario that desperately needs it, instead of sending work overseas. To the point where you have a shipyard on the very shores of Lake Erie where the ferry is needed and yet the bid went elsewhere. There is more at stake than just the price of the ferry, even if the cost to the tax payers is a little more, I think we would all agree that a Canadian built ferry is the way to go. Please reconsider the bid, spend the money here where it is needed.
