Every year there are thousands of dogs are chained or tethered outside in Arizona's brutally hot weather. It is an inhumane way to treat a living being that is supposed to be a valued member of your family. There are numerous reasons that chaining and tethering an animals is cruel and unhealthy and there are no acceptable reasons to allow unsupervised chaining and tethering. Dogs are highly intelligent and social animals. Like most intelligent animals, they thrive on social interaction and companionship. Tethering creates frustration and loneliness. It deprives them of the opportunity to exercise, escape the heat, escape from abuse by people or from attack by other animals, denies them socialization and creates fruatration . We ask that the Arizona legislature please consider our request to make unsupervised chaining and tethering illegal in the state of Arizona. It is the right thing to do for the dogs of Arizona.
