According to NBC, the National Park Service approved 22 permits for freedom of speech events taking place over inauguration week, which includes the National Mall and the White House. Each protest will range from 50 to 200,000 people. The largest protest is the Women's March on Washington, which has acquired a permit for 200,000 people. Jim Bendat notes, "It's quite noteworthy. If they get those kinds of numbers, it will far exceed any previous inaugural protest." Washington's Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management are preparing for the protests and have said they expect 800,000 - 900,000 people to attend the event. Ben Becker, an activist who is an organizer for two of the protests being held by the ANSWER Coalition told NBC he's not shocked that people will be there to protest: "Trump has triggered a wave of protest and outrage across the country. His election has itself become a point of protest for women, Muslim communities, for immigrants, for people who care about education, social security, Medicare — the list is almost limitless in terms of the people who feel threatened by what a Trump presidency would mean." Here’s how you can protest from home if you are not able to make it to an actual protest. 1. Join the FREE Power Tweet class organized by Unite For America to get updates/texts on how to use Twitter to resist Trump and information on bills being introduced/passed by congress so you can stay ahead of mainstream media coverage on legislative actions. The ACA coverage was very late because the vote was taken at 1:30 in the morning. WE can’t keep allowing congress to act while we are sleeping. Join the FREE Power Tweet class by texting 81010 with the message @PWERTWEET 2. Tweet Trump or just tweet a message on January 20th and 21st with the hashtag #RussianHackPresident so it trends on Twitter, which will catch media attention and make your voice heard and will let Trump know you do not support him. (@RealDonaldTrump) 3. Tweet @CongressdotGov and tell them how disappointed you are that Trump is now the president and give specific reasons. For example, ACA, Social Security, Medicare, CHIP insurance being removed. (Children’s insurance program since 1997.. Yes, it’s gone). His tweets, his attacks on John Lewis, a civil rights leader and close friend of MLK, and remember to use the hashtag #RussianHackPresident For questions, concerns, and media/press inquiries please contact Sharika at LadysoalPR@gmail.com or send a Tweet to @LadyThriller69 [Sidenote: 69 stands for the cancer zodiac sign.] Thank you and keep fighting the good fight!
