These Horse Riding Trails, with brand new signs indicating where they are, go right through the marked habitat for the iconic Queen of Sheba orchid. This orchid remains in this, the only real population in WA, and is under great threat. Numbers are decreasing. Horses will crush these orchids and possibly introduce phytophthora (Dieback) on their hooves, and their faeces will introduce weeds which will proliferate and overtake the bush supporting the orchids. These orchids are known world-wide and bring in many tourist dollars. Our precious flora and the environment deserve more.
