It’s time to end the wasted years and tax dollars on the failed war on drugs. More specifically, end the criminal prosecution of marijuana. The current laws in Iowa have ruined a lot of people’s lives with simple possession charges. With more and more state’s legalizing marijuana around us, we feel like it’s time for Iowa to get with the current times. We call on the state of Iowa, including Kim Reynolds, to: 

1) Immediately decriminalize marijuana and stop all prosecutions against marijuana for simple possession. 

2) Set up a five-year plan instep in order to legalize and regulate marijuana in the state of Iowa.

3)Create committee in order to review past marijuana convictions, and work with the state in order to drop previous charges on offenders. 

4)Give a chance for everyone to be able to get in the new marijuana industry including people who have been convicted of marijuana charges in the past. Don’t let big marijuana companies control the industry.

This is a state issue, we have no need to wait for federal legalization. We the people of Iowa, want cannabis legalized and regulated.  Imagine all the money the state will save from not Prosecuting marijuana consumers, and all the millions that would be made in state taxes.
We will not stop fighting for justice until we can consume cannabis without the worry of prosecution from the state of Iowa.
