I recently wrote to the South Australian transport minister asking if Veterans with White Cards would be offered concessions. The response from the Minister stated that only NT and VIC currently offer concessions to White Card Holders. Two days later, the Minister has been caught in a scandal where he claimed $30,000 in entitlements.
It’s clear the NT and VIC recognise the value of a volunteer only defence force and provide concessional travel to those who served so why can’t other states?
It’s clear why SA doesn’t have the money for it. We’re too busy covering the Minister’s expenses!
How many veterans could have been offered with concessional travel on public transport for the “expenses” the Minister claimed or intended to claim during his elected years?
