By the end of our first week, we will have seen over 1,000 signatories to our petition.

Research has already shown that veterans are already over-represented in Australia's homeless population. Impactful research from the University of Adelaide and the University of New South Wales suggests that Veteran's who have recently left the Australian Defence Force have a homeless rate three times higher than their civilian brothers and sisters (https://theconversation.com/5-800-defence-veterans-homeless-in-australia-thats-more-than-we-thought-123695).

Why is this important? According to the Department of Veterans' Affairs, "The Veteran Card will help Australians, including businesses, organisations, community groups and service providers to identify veterans and offer respect to them and their family." The only way the Veteran Card can do offer this respect is if the card is given the concessional status in the State and Territories it so rightly deserves.
