SSL Arlington Letter Writing Campaign to AISD School District

More than 1000 people have signed the Start School Later Arlington, TX petition. Thank you for your support of healthy school hours for adolescents. Since the Start School Later chapter was formed in 2012, an evergrowing list of major health and education groups, including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics have issued position statements identifying early high school start times as the crucial factor leading to adolescent sleep deprivation. The CDC identifies adolescent sleep deprivation a public health crisis. Despite local, state and national endorsement statements, Arlington ISD continues to govern by reaction. Several school board members have told SSL Arlington that we need more folks to contact the school board. The district questions the validity of the petition. PLEASE let the school board know that your signature on this petition is legit and your concern for teen sleep is real. It doesn’t matter if you have written before or have never done so. SSL Arlington wants the Arlington school district to hear from all of us at the same time!
