Stargate: Don't Let the Gate Close

On June 3, 2026, a gate that millions of people were waiting to step through was shut.
You cancelled the new Stargate series. Not an idea. Not a draft. A project ordered, written, and prepared over more than two years by Martin Gero, a man who got his first break on Atlantis twenty years ago and who says himself that Stargate is written into his DNA. Twenty weeks in the writers' room. A production already underway in the UK.
Everything was ready. And overnight, nothing.
The reason we were given doesn't hold up
We were told the series risked "appealing only to longtime fans." That its audience would be too narrow. But the people who made it say the exact opposite.
A community is not something you discard. It is something you listen to.
We are fans. And we have a voice.
We are not a line in a programming spreadsheet. We are the people who grew up dialing addresses to other worlds. Who discovered science fiction through this Gate. Who passed it on to our children.
Cutting off part of your community is a mistake. Refusing to listen to it is a graver one still.
You don't bury thirty years of story
Stargate is not a trend. It is 1994, Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin's film. It is 1997 and the ten seasons of SG-1. It is Atlantis. It is Universe. It is more than thirty years of a story that has crossed generations and borders, from the United States to France, from Canada to Japan, from Brazil to Germany.
You don't close a saga like that because two executives changed offices.
Amazon, you've heard us before
In 2018, when The Expanse was cancelled, fans around the world rose up. More than 138,000 signatures. A banner flown over your offices. And you listened: Jeff Bezos personally announced the show's rescue, and it ran three more acclaimed seasons on Prime Video.
You proved, that day, that Amazon could recognize the value of a passionate audience. That value is still here. Stronger than ever.
You alone hold the keys
Stargate belongs to you. No other platform can take this project in your place. Which means this story rests on a single decision: yours. That is a responsibility. It is also an opportunity.
What we are NOT asking for
We are not asking for a reboot. Not a new story cut off from its roots. Not an outside team with no ties to the franchise, parachuted in for the sake of a so-called "fresh perspective." The Stargate universe is shared by millions of people around the world. You do not start it over from scratch.
What we are asking for
The return of Martin Gero and his team, and the series they have already written: the one that continues the existing universe and respects its canon.
The preservation of what made Stargate Stargate: the humor, the found family, the camaraderie, the action, the adventure, the discovery, the wonder.
An honest conversation with this global community, and recognition that it is a strength, not a limit.
You hold the address. You hold the Gate.
Don't leave it dark.
We've dialed the symbols. We're waiting, on the other side, for the wormhole to open.
