Standing in solidarity with IPS: Protect ALL kids

Standing in solidarity with IPS: Protect ALL kids
The Issue
Letter of Solidarity and Support
In Support of Indianapolis Public Schools and Schools Across the State of Indiana
We, the undersigned elected officials, community partners, educators, and concerned residents of Indiana, stand in unwavering solidarity with Indianapolis Public Schools and school districts across our state as they continue their commitment to creating safe, supportive, and welcoming learning environments for all students.
Public schools are the cornerstone of our communities. They represent the best of who we are—places where every child, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves dignity, opportunity, and respect.
We are deeply concerned that the recent lawsuit filed by the Indiana Attorney General against Indianapolis Public Schools undermines not only the district’s leadership and integrity, but also the collective trust between schools and the families they serve. While political posturing may seek to divide, we remain united in our belief that education should never be weaponized or politicized.
We affirm the IPS Board of School Commissioners’ public statement that:
> “Indianapolis Public Schools is committed to ensuring safe, supportive, and welcoming learning environments for all students. As has always been the case, we will continue to uphold the law while keeping these commitments.”
We echo this call for respect, collaboration, and thoughtful dialogue—values that define our public education system and the Hoosier spirit. Every dollar and every ounce of energy spent on unnecessary litigation is a resource taken from classrooms, teachers, and the students who rely on our schools to learn, grow, and thrive.
Today, we collectively assert that Indiana’s children deserve our full protection and investment—not political distraction or division.
We stand with Indianapolis Public Schools.
We stand with every Indiana district committed to safety, inclusion, and excellence.
We stand with our students and their families—always.
