Stand With Utah Teachers: We Don't Want Your Sorry - We Want to Repeal HB267
The Issue
In July, Governor Spencer Cox stood in front of hundreds of educators and said, “I want to apologize.” He told teachers he never liked HB267 — the law he signed that stripped public workers, including teachers, of their right to collectively bargain.
But no apology can undo the damage this law has caused.
HB267 was passed without teacher input, against widespread opposition, and signed on Valentine’s Day — a slap in the face to those who dedicate their lives to serving Utah’s kids. In response, thousands of teachers and allies made history by gathering enough signatures to place HB267 on the 2026 ballot for repeal.
Now, lawmakers are hinting they might “tweak” the bill instead of repealing it. That’s not enough. Teachers don’t need tweaks. They need their rights back.
We’re calling on Governor Cox and the Utah Legislature to repeal HB267 in full — before the 2026 vote. Public workers deserve more than symbolic gestures and photo ops. They deserve action.
Sign now if you believe Utah’s teachers deserve more than an apology — and let’s make sure our state’s laws reflect respect, not regret.
