The Issue

Today, our community center serves more than 2,000 registered families, providing free youth programs, food assistance, workforce development, family support, mental health resources, and violence prevention services. We do not operate for profit, and we do not sell products—we exist solely to serve our community.

Now, the City of Oceanside has required us to obtain a $3,000 Conditional Use Permit, with no guarantee of approval (if needed, each permit resubmittal costs an additional $3,000) . For a grassroots nonprofit, this cost is a significant burden and the city has forced us to temporarily close our doors, putting essential community services at risk.

If the City can vote to waive millions of dollars in taxes or fees for large private development projects, it should also be willing to waive permit fees for nonprofits that invest every day in Oceanside's families, youth, public safety, and neighborhoods.

We are asking the City of Oceanside to waive or reduce the Conditional Use Permit fees and work with us to reopen our community center as quickly as possible.

Please sign this petition and stand with the thousands of families who depend on these services. Together, we can ensure that community spaces dedicated to prevention, opportunity, and hope remain open for everyone.
