The Trump administration has frozen approximately $790 million in federal funding to Northwestern University amid ongoing civil rights investigations.

This sweeping action impacts grants from major federal agencies like the Department of Defense, HHS, and USDA, directly threatening hugely important research projects, academic programs, and medical innovations that serve the public good and can save lives.

Northwestern University has confirmed the freeze:

"Federal funds that Northwestern receives drive innovative and life-saving research, like the recent development by Northwestern researchers of the world's smallest pacemaker, and research fueling the fight against Alzheimer's disease".

Northwestern University is the first non-Ivy League school to be targeted in a politically motivated crackdown. Harvard, Columbia, and Cornell have also had their funding taken away.
