The Trump administration has threatened to strip federal funding from states that allow transgender girls and women to play on sports teams that match their gender identity. But Minnesota isn’t backing down.

Attorney General Keith Ellison has filed a groundbreaking lawsuit challenging these threats, defending both the rights of transgender students and the constitutional sovereignty of his state. This lawsuit is a direct response to executive orders that seek to impose a one-size-fits-all federal agenda on states, and punish those who refuse to comply with discrimination.

Minnesota is doing what’s right. Now they need to know the public is behind them.

We stand with Minnesota in their courageous fight to protect transgender youth from targeted political attacks. We support their refusal to bow to fear-based policies that erase and endanger vulnerable students. And we thank them for using their power to push back. Because when one state stands up, it gives others permission to do the same.
