For 36 years, June Vaters has been the face of public service in Brighton, Ontario. Nearly four decades of shifting governments, technological updates, and changing regulations haven't changed one thing: June’s absolute dedication to our community.
We all know her. She is the independent operator who greets you with a smile, solves the trickiest paperwork blunders, and runs her office with unmatched professionalism and warmth. June has built such a stellar reputation that local business owners and everyday residents routinely drive past closer locations just to bring their business to her in Brighton. She isn't just a contractor for the government—she is a local institution and a vital supporter of our regional economy.
The Problem: Centralized Bureaucracy vs. A Local Hero
Right now, a centralized head office bureaucracy at ServiceOntario is subjecting June to hostile, unreasonable, and punitive administrative treatment. Instead of supporting and celebrating a model small business owner with a flawless 36-year track record, nameless management figures are creating a toxic environment that actively threatens the survival of her office.
If head office succeeds in forcing her out or shutting her down, Brighton loses more than just a convenient office—we lose a trusted community pillar, a dedicated small business, and the high-quality face-to-face service we deserve.
We will not stand by and watch a centralized government head office dismantle the career of a woman who has given 36 years of loyal service to this province.
What We Are Demanding
We are taking this fight directly to our local MPP, Minister David Piccini.
As our representative at Queen’s Park—and as Ontario’s Minister of Labour—Minister Piccini’s entire mandate is to protect workers, champion fairness, and support local small businesses. We need him to bring that exact mandate home to Brighton.
By signing this petition, you are demanding that Minister Piccini:
Immediately intervene with the leadership at the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery.
Demand a full halt to the unfair pressures and hostile administrative tactics being aimed at June Vaters.
