We thank the members of Laois County Council for standing with Abbeyleix in November 2025 and supporting the motion to bring the 2027 National Famine Commemoration to our town. Your backing gave this effort its first major lift. As the petition now goes live, we ask you to stand with us once more — to help carry this momentum across Laois and beyond, and to ensure that the memory of our Famine dead is honoured where their story was lived. We have preserved the history. We have told the stories. We have built the community structures that keep memory alive.
