Stand Up for the Voiceless: PROTECT Animals from cruelty

The Issue

Did you know that at least one animal is abused every 60 seconds?

I remember the day I found my pet cat. His fur was matted, eyes filled with desperation, and evidence of abuse is clear. As an animal lover, I could not ignore the apparent pervasiveness of animal cruelty. I was inspired by this personal encounter, I have decided to raise my voice and not sit idle. Hence, I am mobilizing this petition. Animal abuse is a global issue that needs immediate attention.

The Problem

Thousands of animals suffer from animal cruelty every year. Alarmingly, animal abuse cases are rising in the Philippines. In 2020 alone, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) received over 7,000 reports, while the Compassion and Responsibility for Animals (CARA) Welfare Philippines documented 3,000 cases. This totals approximately 10,000 instances of animal suffering in 2020, hinting at a far greater number over the years. This figure is an alarming indication of the magnitude of the problem we are dealing with. The purpose of this petition is not only to safeguard cats like mine who have previously suffered, but all animals that are currently being harmed. We aim to push for stricter laws and regulations that will ensure their safety and prevent mistreatment.

The Solution

No animal deserves to endure unnecessary pain or suffering. Through this petition, we demand that our lawmakers take this issue seriously and make necessary revisions in animal welfare laws. Abusers should be held accountable and punished adequately to deter such inhumane actions.
