Stand up for people suffering in Chronic Pain!!
The Issue
During arbitration with the Ontario Medical Association, the Ministry of Health submitted recommendations to limit or cut certain funded health care services in Ontario. If implemented, these proposed limitations and cuts would directly affect care for pain patients.
During arbitration, the Ontario Ministry of Health proposed a severe reduction and possible elimination of publicly funded pain injection treatments in community pain clinics. The Ministry has not asked the opinion of the people with pain who receive these pain injections.
During arbitration, the Ontario Ministry of Health proposed to severely reduce the number of pain injections that are paid for by OHIP. They are proposing to only pay for a maximum of 4 injections per visit, up to 4 times per year. This is a maximum of 16 injections per year. Even if you want to and could afford to, you may not be permitted to pay for extra pain injections. In addition, these payment restrictions may force the closure of community pain clinics. If the government makes this change, we could lose total access to pain injection treatments.
We hope the Ontario Government, who are “for the people”, will not ignore the voices of chronic pain patients.
We strongly urge you to make your voice heard call the Ministry of Health and your local MPP with your concerns. You can also write a letter or email to your local MPP expressing your opinion. Try to make an appointment to meet your MPP in person to discuss this issue. We, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
During arbitration with the Ontario Medical Association, the Ontario government, proposed to limit public funding for injection treatments provided in community clinics, for patients with chronic pain, to 4 injections per visit up to a maximum of 4 visits per patient, per year. We, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to prevent the passage of this proposal by the Ministry of Health that will severely restrict the availability of this necessary medical treatment and may result in the closure of community clinics that treat patients with chronic pain.
