Stand Up for Free Speech, for Jimmy Kimmel, — Send Disney a Message

Stand Up for Free Speech, for Jimmy Kimmel, — Send Disney a Message
The Issue
Today, September 17, 2025, ABC and its parent company Disney announced they are pulling Jimmy Kimmel Live! off the air after FCC Chairman Brendan Carr criticized the show.
Let’s be clear: this isn’t just about Jimmy Kimmel. Donald Trump has long opposed him — not because Jimmy is immoral, but because Jimmy dares to speak out against him.
However, this decision is bigger than one comedian or one show. This is about something fundamental to America: our freedom to speak out, to challenge power, and to laugh without fear.
For American history, freedom of speech has been the beating heart of our democracy. It’s what has allowed journalists to investigate, and everyday Americans (both liberals and conservatives) to speak their minds without fear of retribution. When politicians pressure corporations to silence dissenting voices, that is not strength — that is the shadow of authoritarianism.
Disney could have stood firm on principle. Instead, they caved to political intimidation. We’ve seen this before with Paramount canceling Stephen Colbert’s show. This is how democratic erosion begins: not with a bang, but with silence.
However we are not powerless.
We are citizens. We are voters. We are consumers.
And together, we can make a statement and influence.
Disney is a public corporation and their leadership answers to shareholders. So lets talk their language. We are calling on Disney to reinstate Jimmy Kimmel Live! by September 30th. If they do not, we will exercise the power they understand best — the power of our pocketbooks.
We will:
Cancel Disney+, ESPN, and Hulu
Stop watching ABC and all its sports programming
Skip Disneyland and Disney World
Redirect our attention and our dollars to companies that defend the First Amendment.
Remember Americans may have voted in President Trump but most did not vote for authoritarianism.
This is not about liberal or conservative, democrat or republican. This is about our democracy. And it only survives when we stand up to protect it.
Sign the petition. Join the movement. Let’s show Disney — and every corporation watching — that when they silence our voices, they lose our support.
