The Issue

Davenport School of the Arts was founded to provide students with a strong academic education rooted in creativity, artistic excellence, and community. Families are drawn to DSA because of its unique commitment to nurturing the arts and creating an environment where students can thrive both academically and creatively. Where the arts are meant to be protected, prioritized and celebrated.

Recently, many parents, students, alumni, and staff supporters have shared concerns about changes affecting arts-related positions and programs within the school. These changes have led to questions about how DSA’s long-standing arts-focused mission will continue to be supported moving forward.

Families have also expressed a desire for greater communication and transparency regarding decisions that impact the future of the school and its arts community.

This petition respectfully asks for the administration at DSA to:

·         Review the current direction and leadership of DSA

·         Ensure that arts education remains a central priority of the school

·         Support and retain outstanding arts educators and staff

·         Strengthen communication and transparency with families and stakeholders

·          Preserve the unique identity and culture that make DSA special

Many families are concerned about:

·         Changes involving arts programs and staffing

·         The potential loss of valued teachers and arts leaders

·         A growing sense of disconnect between administration and the school community

·         Decisions that may unintentionally shift DSA away from its arts-centered foundation

·         Ensuring that students, families, and staff continue to feel heard, supported, and valued

·         The removal, reassignment or reduction of arts related positions

This petition is rooted in a shared love for Davenport School of the Arts and a desire to see its mission continue to flourish for future generations of students.

DSA students deserve a school environment where creativity is encouraged, teachers are supported, families are welcomed, and the arts remain an essential part of student growth and success.

We respectfully encourage the current administration at Davenport School of the Arts to work closely with the DSA community to help preserve and strengthen the school’s artistic vision and supportive culture.

Please sign and share if you believe in supporting and protecting the future of Davenport School of the Arts.
