You are receiving this update because you signed a petition against the hyper-scale data center proposed for Wake County.  Change.org petition.

A lot has happened since this proposal first entered our world in August of 2025. There is now a dedicated group working on this fight against hyper-scale data centers in Wake County. Protect Wake County Coalition (PWCC).

We wanted to give an update and ask you to do a few things to help the cause.

Why this matters:

• The proposed data center would consume 300 MW of power,  comparable to a significant share of the Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant, with costs ultimately passed on to residents through higher utility bills. For reference, the entire town of Apex utilizes 120MW of power.

• It would rely on 100 - 200 diesel generators and store over one million gallons of diesel fuel near homes, farmland, and waterways.

• It raises serious concerns about water use, PFAS-based refrigerants, noise, light pollution, and environmental risk.

• We need to highlight the broader, largely unregulated expansion of AI infrastructure and its real economic impacts on local jobs and communities in North Carolina.

If you want to get involved and learn more please visit the website & Facebook Page dedicated to stopping this Data Center: www.protectwakecounty.org and our Facebook Page: Protect Wake County Coalition

If you live in the NC-04 districts of Wake, Chatham, Durham, or Orange County, you can sign an open letter to the congressional candidates here: Open Letter to NC-04 Congressional Candidates It asks candidates to oppose this project publicly and to reject campaign funding from big tech and AI interests. You can also find the direct link to the open letter on our website: www.protectwakecounty.org
Not sure if you’re in NC-04? You can quickly check your congressional district here: Find Your District

It only takes a minute, but collective action like this helps get our local concerns heard beyond just town halls, it brings them into the bigger federal conversation.

Thanks in advance for staying engaged and showing up for our communities!
