As most Aussies would know by now, Labor, led by Anthony Albanese (for now at least), we know Australian politics don’t seem to run smoothly, or any politics come to think of it.
Anyway the good news is Labor promised to end Live Sheep Exports. The bad news is it is suppose to be over a 5 year phase out….NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
So it is up to us to make sure it does NOT take 5 years and that ALL animals are stopped from being shipped.
Many supporters have worked extremely hard to share the message Anna-Lisa, Bako, Susan, Alissa, Edith, Maria, Andrew, Pat, Pauli, Janice, Jill, Marie, Sabrina, Lisa (3 of them), 5-6 international people and to the people who were happy to have banners in their yards…THANK YOU.
However we still cannot rest on our laurels, this is an issue that if we let go, they do too. Look at what happened when Julia Gillard ended Live Animal Exports, it lasted only 3 months because the farmers acted like THEIR throats had been cut and the Labor government caved.
WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS HAPPEN AGAIN. We need to stop sending animals to slaughter in foreign countries, we need many other things to happen for animals I know but if we push too much too soon, they will draw a line on it.
So PLEASE let’s focus on ending Live Animal Export first and foremost. United - for the animals.
