My name is Lauren Sizemore and I want to explain why I'm filing this petition. April 5th 2016, my father and I were on our way to pick my son up from school when we recieved a frantic phone call from my brother, Joe Sizemore. He explained that the babysitter, Erin Thompson, had called Tasha, his wife, and told her that Kylie was choking on her bottle and believed she was having a seizure. She asked her if she had called 911 yet and she did not. My brother was close enough to get there as quick as he could and Erin Thomson was sitting there holding Kylie while she was turning blue. She was not performing CPR and had not even tried. Joe had to breathe for her and give her all the oxygen he could untill the ambulance showed up. They notice blood coming from her ears...something was not right. At this time my father and I, along with my son, rush to the hospital to see what was going on with Kylie. It was much worse than we had thought. My niece Kylie Jo Sizemore was severely abused by her babysitter Erin Thompson. This took place in Nicholasville Ky. She had a fractured femur, fractured skull, fractured ribs. Hit multiple times in her head. Kylie was only 4 months old. Her life has just begun. But now..her life was going to take a turn for the worst. We were prepared for the worst. Kylie was now in pediatric intensive care at the University of Kentucky children's hospital. She was on life support and we were sure it was not going to end well. Kylie was on life support for about a week. She was unresponsive and very weak. This poor child had a baby stroke and baby seizures along with many other complications. After being on life support for a week she was soon taken off due to recovering slowly but surely. The doctor had explained when kylie first arrived at the hospital he wss expecting her not to make it after the first few days. But this little girl was not gonna give up. With the support and prayers from family, friends and church members, Kylie was going to survive. We soon found out that Kylie was NOT the only child this woman had abused. There were other children in her care that had received some of the same injuries...but Kylie, received the worst of it all. While staying at the hospital for a month Kylie was getting better everyday. Feeding tubes..being poked and pricked...kylie was so tough through it all. She was soon released from UK childrens hospital and transfered to Cardnial Hill Rehabilitation Hospital where she recieved therapy EVERYDAY. That was very hard on her but through all that we struck together as a family and would stand by Kylie the whole way. She was finally released after a few weeks and sent home. She had to stay on her feeding tube and needed attention 24/7. It was as if she was a newborn all over again but worse. Now at 8 months old..Kylies journey is still not over. She has to go to Cardnial Hill Rehabilitation hospital every day and receive therapy. Her eyes are still not where they should be and now has to wear glasses and her right side is not as strong as her left due to the major stroke she had. This poor child's life has been a roller coaster and it's just now begun. Erin Thompson is in jessamine county detention center awaiting another court date. My concern is this; if sex offenders have to register, then please explain to me why child abusers do not have to register the same way? I understand that these charges would be on their criminal record but to me that is no where near enough. Child abusers are no better that sex offenders. They need to have all rights taken from them. What I mean by this is they should not be allowed to live near a school or near a park..anywhere children are known to be. They should have to walk from door to door just like a sex offender and make neighbors aware they are a registered child abuser. They should not be allowed to be anywhere near children ever again and this includes their own. This babysitter was supposed to be the best babysitter you could possibly find. She was a sunday school teacher and also had other children in her care so when my brother asked about how she was as a babysitter and of course everyone agreed she was a perfect fit. Well come to find out she was our worst nightmare. Who's to say her church won't allow her to return once she is released and let her continue to be a teacher. Should people like this not be labeled? Shouldn't they have all rights taken from them. Something needs to be done. Luckily Kylie will not remember that day her little life changed but us as a family and even close friends will remember it till we draw our last breath. Please help me get the state officials to understand this concern and lets get something done about these child abusers. I myself am now terrified to let anyone other than my family, watch my kids. I have a 5 year old son and i recently had my daughter in may of this year...a month after kylies injuries. I was dismissed from doing jury duty explaining to the judge I WILL NOT leave my daughter with anyone due to this situation with my niece. I can not get a job due to the fear of someone hurting my child just like Erin did Kylie. Kylie was lucky enough to survive this horrific time, another child might not be so lucky. With your support and the help from the Kentucky state officials we can make a difference. Please let's make Kylie Jo's law a reality and get this passed!
