In these unprecedented times, we look for comfort and familiarity in anything. For most of us, our own comfortable clothing brings that sense of security. I am proposing that for the 2020-2021 school year, uniforms be optional for the students participating in in-person instruction, across the HCDSB. This would also help to protect our peers because we would be wearing something different everyday, minimizing the risk of transmission of COVID-19. Other schools, such as Appleby have stopped wearing their blazers and ties, due to the fact that they cannot dry clean them daily and kill the virus. I ask that the St Thomas Aquinas administration team and the HCDSB consider this option for the coming school year.
