The decision to merge St.Paul and Sherwood Forest into a JR/SR campus and implementing a Francais Plus was not put to vote and therefore the parents did not fully exercise their rights.... We need to work together to gather as many signatures to clearly send a message that our school zone, 46, 47 and 48 is only in favour of keeping the Early Immersion program and not the Francais Plus... It is in our best interest that the students get to exercise their right and SAVE the the Early Immersion program as it has proven to be very successful in our school zone and communities. In addition, it's important to remember that math being taught is about numbers but all the problem solving and word problems will be done in their second language which can be challenging to many students. I have heard countless stories about students struggling a great deal in math in the lower grades and yet once they start learning math in their mother tongue, their struggles seem to lessen. The only solution is to keep the Early Immersion program as its proven to be successful. Your time and consideration to review this petition is appreciated.
