I am a concerned parent of St. Michaels Academy, Adyar, Chennai and a part of the larger community of our school system for the past 18+ years. Two of my children have completed their schooling here and my youngest one will soon. Recently, we have witnessed a rise in disturbing cases of toxic rumours and targeted mistreatment permeating the atmosphere in the school. PTA leadership and certain parent figures have been engaging in slanderous talks about specific parents and teachers, creating unnecessary divisions and a hostile social environment. 

At St Michaels Academy, Adyar, Chennai the issue is escalating to an extent that few parents have changed school to the nearby Bala Vidya Mandir, Adyar, and many current parents are considering changing their kids' schools due to rumours spread about them and because of their children becoming targets of teachers. This is not just an attack on their character but also makes their children feel unsafe and targeted at their own school (source: personal communication). Our schools are supposed to be sanctuaries of learning, not battlegrounds marked by defamation and character assassinations. 

The school pupil elections and the PTA elections were rigged breaching trust of teachers, pupils and parents.

Google form for elections were easily changed to suit the objective of evil people by this method.

Beyond the personal harm, this toxic behavior affects the overall environment of the school and hinders the Patrician Brothers mission of providing quality education in a safe nurturing environment for  future generations. We must not let these harmful actions go unchecked.

Teaching quality has gone to it's lowest and most teachers are pinching and beating kids in the name of discipline. Complaints are not taken up.

The petition seeks strict measures to address and prevent such toxic behaviors, ensure the well-being of students, parents, and teachers, and uphold the harmony of the schooling environment.
