Spotify Apologize to Lisa

Spotify Apologize to Lisa
The Issue
Fans online are calling for Spotify to apologize to Lisa of BLACKPINK after it incorrectly named her its Most Streamed K-Pop Soloist of 2022, which resulted in a barrage of hate comments directed toward her.
Earlier this week, Spotify released its 2022 Spotify Wrapped for listeners and announced its most streamed artists, genres, songs and albums of the year.
On Wednesday, data released showed K-pop girl group BLACKPINK's Lisa as the Most Streamed K-Pop Soloist of the year before Spotify announced an error and stated that BTS's Jungkook was supposed to receive the title.
However, directly following the statement from Spotify, the internet was flooded with a bombardment of hate comments directed toward Lisa, many of them misogynistic and "slut shaming" the Thai-born artist, accusing her of having sexual relations with Spotify's Global Head of Music, Jeremy Erlich, in order to win the title.
In response, BLACKPINK fans (also known as Blinks) flooded Twitter in their own way, and the phrase "Apologize to Lisa" was trending on the social media site Friday morning.
"Lisa can never have achievements without getting derogatory remarks. She gets racially attacked because she's Thai. She gets slutshamed because she's a woman. They even drag her friends & family in their slander," said one user, adding, "APOLOGIZE TO LISA."
"If Spotify will continue to ignore us and won't issue a formal apology towards Lisa," another wrote, "This just shows how this streaming platform encourages and supports harassment towards women."
Meanwhile, an international Lisa fan account with over 370,000 followers wrote on Twitter and tagged Spotify, "We are selective in our battles as there are times you don't have to draw a sword to kill a fly. But today is not the day to keep mum about how much Lisa deserves an apology. You did her wrong!"
