My MSP Keith Brown & I have just received this correspondence from Justin Tomlinson MP the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Disabled People "I have noted the concerns raised, no specific legislation exists for the regulation of assistance dogs, nor are there any plans to introduce any. Standards for assistance dogs are maintained on the basis of a voluntary regulatory framework and it is therefore not for Ministers to say what constitutes acceptable standards for the training, healthcare and wellbeing of assistance dogs." He goes on to talk about assistance dogs and how standards need to be kept up. But that it is up to voluntary organizations to keep their programs up to standard. No word of owner trained dogs. "I am encouraging interested parties to collaborate to see if there is a possibility of increasing the number of organisations which are at, or very close to, the accredited standard. Our objective must be to increase the supply of well trained assistance dogs from reputable organisation and charities." There are no plans to change the Equality Act of 2010. This is a relief. With this in hand and the letter from the Scottish government I plan to move forward to stop ADUK users from harassing non-ADUK program dogs and owner trained dogs. I have an idea where to start with this and will post when I know what's going on. I am grateful for your continued support. Please keep sharing this petition to make our voice heard. Alison Skillin
