My brother Krystofer Lee Lopez dedicated his life to serving our country in the army. Tragically, during a routine training session, he was murdered. The person responsible for this brutal act is currently free, roaming the streets, while my family and I suffer in unimaginable ways each day. This is not just our personal tragedy, but a grave injustice to all military families and to every service member who puts their life on the line for the safety and freedom of others.

Allowing the perpetrator of this heinous crime to walk free until sentencing undermines the integrity of our justice system and fails to honor the sacrifice made by men and women in uniform. It sends a dangerous message that the lives of service members can be so easily disregarded and dismissed.
