Dear friends of Save Mattituck Inlet,
Thank you for your continued interest in the proposed yacht warehouse project on Mattituck Inlet and your support of Save Mattituck InletHere's the latest: The consulting firm working on the Final Environmental Impact Statement still is going through the hundreds of pages of input from community members and agencies. Their next step will be to compile the comments into a topical list for the Southold Planning Board to consider.
The legal process can take a long time. There is no deadline by which the FEIS must be prepared. Southold also is considering whether a Supplemental EIS should be prepared, as was urged by several commenters.
So, we are in a holding pattern. While we wait, please consider making a tax deductible contribution to our fundraising campaign to help pay for SMI's legal expenses. We are about half-way toward our goal of $50,000. And a huge thank you to those of you who already have donated.
As SMI waits for approval for 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status from the IRS, please make your donation through our fiscal agreement with Group for the East End, an environmental conservation organization founded in 1972. You may donate online or send a check. Please note: The online donation form has a specific section for SMI donations.
Or, you can make your check payable to Group for the East End, write “SMI” in the memo, and mail to:

And please give a listen to this interview on WPKN with Louise Harrison, from Save the Sound. Louise is a tireless advocate for the Inlet and for the environment.
WPKN is a supporter of SMI. They will be celebrating their 60th anniversary on the air on Oct 15, with a concert in Cutchogue featuring Loudon Wainwright III. Tickets and more information here.
Thank you all for your continued support.
