Local parents whose children walk to Mossneuk Primary School in East Kilbride are petitioning for a safe crossing point on Mossneuk Avenue to approach the school. 

I personally walk my children the 10 minutes to and from school each day, Scottish weather permitting. My children enjoy walking, scooting or cycling to school and on our way we meet many other children and parents making the same journey. 

As we pass through Mossneuk Park we come to cross the road at Mossneuk Avenue between Mossneuk Drive and Forth Grove. At school times this section of the road is extremely busy. Traffic passes at speed and there is a small bus stop on the opposite side of the road. The area to cross is flanked on both side by bushes, parked cars, and additional roads.

In both directions there is reduced visibility which makes crossing, even for parents dangerous. This is one of the only places to cross on foot to approach the school and at busy times this is extremely difficult. I know I am not the only parent to have encountered incidences and near misses at this section of road. 

We do not want to wait until a serious accident or fatality happens to one of our children before something is put in place.
