Replace the Confederate flag with James Brown's Cape

The Issue

It's time for us to tell South Carolina lawmakers to get up-ah, get on up!

The Godfather of Soul, the Sex Machine, Soul Brother Number One, Mr. Please Please Please himself, James Joseph Brown, was born in Barnwell, South Carolina in 1933.

He wasn't perfect by any measure. But in a career spanning six decades, James Brown has elevated several genres--blues, gospel, soul, R&B, funk, etc., and united people across the color spectrum in the service of one goal: gettin' on up on the dance floor.

Can you even name ONE hit song by the Confederate Army? You can't, because there weren't any. Even if there had been, they wouldn't have been Mother Popcorn, Papa's Got a Brand New Bag, Cold Sweat, I Feel Good, or Super Bad

He's paid the cost to be the boss. Let his cape serve as a new symbol of unity, freedom, progress, and pride.
