Help Stop South Carolina School Districts From Bullying Disabled Children!

Parents of disabled children in South Carolina could face charges of educational neglect and abuse for taking their children to certified health care providers for therapy appointments.

Parents are being told that South Carolina schools do not have to excuse temporary absences to allow for the disabled children to receive medically-based, doctor-ordered speech, occupational or music therapy, even when they bring the child back to school on the same day with an excuse!   

School officials are telling parents that with continued unexcused absences, they may face being reported to the South Carolina Department of Social Services and face Truancy Charges due to Educational Neglect. Sadly, many parents have been frightened and intimidated by this threat and have withdrawn their children from this much-needed therapy.
