Say No to Sturt Lions Football Club’s (soccer) proposed SEVEN soccer pitches directly adjacent homes on the Upper Sturt Rd section of the old Belair Golf Club. The influx of traffic, noise and light pollution (2 soccer pitches with lights for night games and practices till 10pm) will have negative impacts on homes and residents directly and indirectly in the area. The negative impact of fauna and flora of the native inhabitants can also attribute to falling species numbers already at risk due to human encroachment. We are asking that the Sturt Lions not only withdraw their proposal but that the area is returned to Belair National Park for native habitat and conservation and an appropriate fire break and land management program put in place. The proposed zoning change from Golf Course/Caravan Park to Tourism Accommodation/Development could see permanent buildings and facilities built in the National Park by private developers and organisations for financial gains not Community benefit.
