SOS: Save Our Streets - Vote NO on Bethlehem Zoning Changes

The Issue

More traffic. Greater pressure on schools and infrastructure. Increased flooding. Lasting changes to the neighborhoods we chose to call home.

The proposed zoning changes could lead to a 133% density increase and would add traffic to already congested roads, strain local schools and infrastructure, worsen drainage and flooding, and fundamentally alter the character of the neighborhoods Bethlehem families call home.

Every day, children across Bethlehem walk to bus stops, ride their bikes, play in parks, and move through neighborhoods that residents have worked hard to keep safe and family-friendly. The proposed changes would increase traffic and development intensity in the very places where our children live, learn, and play.

There is a public hearing scheduled for June 24th, so please make your voice heard!

Residents are also concerned about:

• More traffic on roads and intersections that are already heavily traveled.

• Pressure on Bethlehem schools, including rising enrollment and future school assignments.

• Greater stormwater runoff, flooding risk, and drainage problems in areas already burdened by wetlands and high groundwater.

• Added strain on infrastructure, emergency services, and public resources.

• Lasting changes to the character, scale, and quality of life of established neighborhoods.

The Bethlehem Town Board was elected to represent the interests of residents and families. Decisions of this magnitude should put the people who live here first and protect the qualities that have made Bethlehem one of the most desirable communities in the Capital Region.

If you believe Bethlehem's future should prioritize safe neighborhoods, strong schools, responsible planning, and the interests of residents over outside development pressures, sign this petition and urge the Town Board to vote NO on the proposed zoning changes.
