SOS: Save Our Staff!

SOS: Save Our Staff!
The Issue
As you may have heard, 17 full-time SUESD district positions were cut on Wednesday night, during a packed district board meeting. Amongst the positions that board members voted to cut, were the indispensable Administrative Specialist positions. Our office heroes, and the glue that holds it all together: Sarah, Marisol, Stefanny, Alicia and Desiree (across all SUESD campuses).
Eliminating this position will lead to adverse long-term consequences for our students, for our teaching staff, the functionality of the office itself, and for our community as a whole. We propose alternative solutions such as reallocating resources within the district, and/or eliminating or reducing positions within the district office.
For many students, these women are the comforting presence they seek during challenging moments. Their ability to connect with students on a personal level is a gift; one that enhances students' educational experiences and contributes significantly to their overall well-being. This is all in addition to the administrative tasks they perform daily, with constant interuption. Their passion and commitment to the school and its students should be recognized and preserved, not dismissed.
Please help me in urging SUESD board members to reconsider their decision and prioritize keeping our Administrative Specialists on staff. Sign this petition to support Sarah, Marisol, Stefanny, Alicia and Desiree, and by extension, our entire school community.
