SOS - SAVE OUR SPACES! The countryside needs protecting now before its too late...
The Issue
SAY NO TO BUILDING ON GREEN SPACES
This Govt needs challenging...
Biodiversity needs protecting:- this Govt doesn't seem to realise they're destroying the very thing that keeps us alive!
- SAY NO to losing farmland : Tenant Farmers are losing their livelihoods and homes, we are losing food security:- "We cannot rely on the rest of the world to feed us" - NFU report claims Britain is producing less food than 30 years ago
NFU president said that policy uncertainty, chronic underinvestment and a restrictive planning system was 'eroding' Britain's ability to produce its own food. (Farmers Guardian 09.09.2026) - SAY NO to losing natural habitats : Wildlife is being displaced and killed on our roads:- WCL "The tone and weight given to nature and climate across the draft Framework is not commensurate with the scale of the crises, or with the legal status of our environmental
targets. (NPPF_WMH_debate_July_2026) - SAY NO to destroying our wellbeing : Walking or even just seeing green spaces lifts peoples spirits:- Green spaces significantly improve mental wellbeing by reducing stress, boosting mood, and providing restorative environments that lower anxiety and depression:- (evidence.nihr.ac.uk 12.11.2024)
- SAY NO to destroying our countryside. Grey belt is a fabrication of this Govt and should be stopped:- Identification of grey belt is now governed by policy GB2 and the assessment process at Annex E of the NPPF. When is development on grey belt not appropriate - set out in Policy GB7(1)(g) there a four conditions all of which must be met, if all four conditions are met, the development is not inappropriate. (Andrew Ransome MRTPI 28.08.2026)
- SAY NO to more strain on our infrastructure:- CPRE Sussex, have heavily criticized the updated framework for failing to mandate adequate upgrades to water infrastructure, warning that loading massive new housing quotas onto already failing sewage grids will trigger severe environmental pollution; CPRE has been working closely with their allies in the Better Planning Coalition to ensure the Planning and Infrastructure Bill doesn’t undermine protections for the countryside and nature. (CPRE Nov 2025)
Councils and Govt must push developers to build what's already approved on brownfield/previously developed sites and support reinstatement/conversions of empty properties, or face hefty fines to stop land banking.
- 1.4 million of these homes already approved!
- Over 1 million empty properties

- SAY YES to stopping any more planning applications approvals until those already agreed are built.
This affects the whole of the country. It could affect a space near you next...
Wildlife is being displaced, farmers are losing their livelihoods and people's wellbeing is being negatively impacted.
🦊 foxes wandering the streets, 🦝🦔 badgers and other wildlife are coming further into towns and cities because their habitats are being destroyed. 🦋 🐝 Butterflies and our ever decreasing Bee population need us to keep them alive
This destruction is all so unnecessary: ALL under threat of being lost - Green fields / Countryside / Farmland / Landscape / River sides / Orchards / Greenbelt / Forests / Established parks / Golf Courses &/or Open Sports Fields. Please add your voice...
We the undersigned ask the Govt to
Pass a law to make it compulsory for developers to complete those sites/conversions already approved in a timely manner or face hefty fines.
EDIT: today, 3rd August 2026, Taylor Wimpy have announced they have cut back on future builds because existing builds are not selling. So why..
Why are we losing our spaces for more empty properties!
