A call to action for Spiderman Fans everywhere

Earlier this month, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" released worldwide to the delight of spider-man fans everywhere. What we were given by Marc Webb, his cast, team and Sony Pictures was an absolute spectacle of a film. The film featured electric chemistry between Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker) and Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) and in fact, this relationship has been viewed by many as one of the best ever depicted in a major motion picture pertaining to the superhero genre. Dazzling special effects, huge plot points, menacing villians and a truely amazing spider-man capped off this film, which delighted and thrilled spider-man fans everywhere. Spiderman fans loved this film, as can be seen from reaction videos all over the internet. One such video is here

The wonderful fact about great things is that they can be even better. Over the past year, some scenes have been rumoured to be cut from the film, some of these rumoured scenes to be cut are listed below. As spider-man fans, we believe these scenes could make the film even better, and possibly even alleviate some concerns by fans who may not have liked the movie as much as they wanted to. The scenes are as follows;

  • An attack on Oscorp by the Green Goblin
  • An alternate scene in which a tumultuous scene is portrayed differently
  • Extended Times Square and Clocktower scenes
  • Another Peter/Gwen scene.
  • A scene with Max and his Mother
  • A possible espionage plotline in regards to Oscorp.
  • Mary Jane scenes
  • Norman Osborn "Head Scene"

I think it is important that we can see the directors cut of the film, regardless of how long it is, so we can properly appreciate the huge amount of effort that went into the film. I think as fans, we could really appreciate this! The audience still enjoyed the film, as evidenced by the audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but I think the film has the potential to be even greater in a directors cut. Also good to clarify that we are not asking for a directors cut and implying that there was disharmony between Sony and Marc Webb, no, this is a collective call from all spidey fans for an even better cut of the film that will help increase Word of Mouth for "The Amazing Spider-Man 3". Think of it like Spiderman 2.1, a better version of an already fantastic and inspiring film.

The scenes I mentioned have been hinted at through interviews with Marc Webb. Other scenes mentioned were in a rough cut shown to a select few in March of this year. It is clear these scenes are not only filmed, but done over with CGI, as evidenced by the viewers of the rough cut of the film. Whilst it isn't perfect, there is no reason why this could not work in a directors cut.

I must add that I feel that some of these scenes would tie up plot holes, and serve as transition scenes in order to make the tone feel more natural throughout the movie, an extra max scene would help the audience sympathise with him more, and an extra goblin scene would make his appearance seem a little less rushed.

Support the idea? Please share this to Spider-Man fans everywhere, and especially Marc Webb. He is quite active on twitter, so I strongly believe a large enough push from the Spider-Man fanbase could convince him to respond to this. The one thing that unites us all is a love and adoration for the Spider-Man character, he inspires us and leaves us in awe. I believe a directors cut of the film could really turn the film into a masterpiece, and just extend on something already so great. Regardless of whether you liked or disliked the film, I urge you, Spidey fan to Spidey fan, to sign this petition and become part of on united, central unit. Together as a fanbase, we can achieve anything
