Hello everyone we did it! After bowing to public pressure ,SMART & it's contractors have safely relocated the Cotati Tree this last Thursday. The tree was moved 450' south of its former location to a safe spot away from the train tracks. SMART will water & maintain the tree while it gets re-established at the new site. This is a huge victory for this extremely rare tree. Again you just help save the worlds tallest and largest chimeric redwood! Had it been cut down the tree would have been a regrettable memory that only history would have remembered. Now that the tree has been preserved, scientists can further study this genetic oddity of nature. This single tree may open doors to better understanding redwood physiology.
