Solve Cheating Problem in Rust

The Issue

Rust is an open-world survival game where players spend countless hours competing against others, gathering resources, and building bases to protect their hard-earned loot. It’s a fun game, until cheaters ruin the experience by taking all your resources and making roaming and enjoyment impossible. Although Facepunch has made some efforts to address cheating, the problem is rampant, and the entire community is painfully aware of it. Almost every Rust content creator encounters blatant cheaters in nearly every video they post on YouTube, and we all know that most cheaters are more subtle.

The Rust community holds Facepunch in high regard; they are among the most active and receptive game developers in the industry, consistently releasing new content every month. However, the cheating issue must be addressed. Rust isn’t like other games where encountering a cheater might cost you a 10-minute PvP match. In Rust, losing to a cheater means losing hours, sometimes days, of hard work, leading to paranoia about cheaters everywhere and eventually making you reluctant to leave your base or even play the game.

Something needs to be done. More than just passively monitoring potential cheaters—there needs to be a more proactive approach. This petition is dedicated to that effort, to show Facepunch what the Rust community truly desires and believes will help the game survive in the future.
