The issue

In a world where plastic pollution is rampantly attacking our ecosystems, we, a progressive council, are sadly falling behind on our due environmental responsibilities. Shockingly, Australians use an estimated 1.3 million tonnes of plastic each year, out of which a significant portion is soft plastics (ABS 2018-19). Despite these staggering figures, Whitehorse council lacks the infrastructure for collecting soft-plastic depot, leaving our residents at an impasse.

Thus, we urge the Whitehorse Council to recognise this deficit and act swiftly to rectify it. Implementation of a soft plastics recycling depot is not only an essential step towards sustainable waste management but also aligns with our council's reputation as a forward-thinking and environmentally conscious region.

We implore the Council to recognise and address this glaring oversight to aid in protecting our environment and ensuring a sustainable future for our generation and those to come. Please sign this petition and help us bring about this crucial change in the Whitehorse council.
