Kudos to the SMMUSD School Board for adopting a historic resources policy, and a huge hug and thank you to everyone who has signed and shared this petition, made a comment, sent in an email, made phone calls and made public comment at a school board meeting.

This never could have been done without the herculean efforts of the SM Conservancy, Nina Fresco, and Ruthann Lehrer.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and please send them a note of appreciation at advocacy@smconservancy.org

The board will still have the right to demolish if they think a building cannot be used for educational purposes but there is a process in place, and that is phenomenal news.

The not good news.  With the exception of the English building on 7th, the academic core on prospect hill at Samohi which includes the history building is still being demolished this Summer and possibly sooner.

Does this sound just?  The building was never studied for feasibility by an expert.  Due diligence was never completed on behalf of taxpayers.

Would love to hear from you.  If you have any advocacy ideas, or talents you can share, please contact me, 310-600-7306.  Please keep this petition going.  The school board continues to assert that a very small group is driving this effort, and we all know this simply is not true.  Share this with your like minded people.  Let them know how many people in our community care about the environment, financial stewardship, heritage education and preservation.
