Young Muslim students in Melbourne's North (Broadmeadows) are being forced to shave their facial hair at a boys-only high school, while teachers and staff are able to keep their beards all they want!

It is in the Islamic faith that men keep their beards, and that shaving them is prohibited - this is obviously within the guidelines of cleanliness to keep them tidy and well presented which is heavily emphasised by the school and greed upon by the majority, however shaving them all together especially in the face of one's beliefs is something that can't be taken lightly!

The school (Sirius College) doesn't even make any religious exemptions for students for want to grow their fresh growing beards for religious purposes - if this isn't religious discrimination, what is!?!

Numerous amounts of our friends from years are leaving the school as it's having a huge emotional, physical, social and of course spiritual toll on their wellbeing, the school seems to just brush it aside!

Many of us can't stand this injustice and while many before us have fought about it, being helpless in front of the powerhouse of a school has had this issue just swept under the rug!

We can't let this discrimination happen right under our noses go untouched, as young students who haven't even faced the real world yet, we can only achieve this with your help!

We call for the community, irrespective of our faiths, to unite and see this injustice and allow us to freely practice our religion and able to exercise our rights of appearance, and to help transform the final years of our schooling journey to one we can remember and smile back upon!

With these numbers we are able to demonstrate to the school that not only from a college level that its having severe impacts, but rather impacting the wider community as a whole!
