OK former Note 7 owners, the big day is at hand. The second recall is going to happen tomorrow 26/10. But first of all, many thanks for those that signed the petition. As it turns out Samsung was simply able to hide behind the soft consumer laws. For your info we had almost 9,000 and 841 signatures. The petition was sent to Minister of State, Ministry of National Development & Ministry of Trade and Industry, Dr Koh Poh Koon & Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education & Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ms Low Yen Ling -- who forwarded to CASE, for all the good that CASE were. So this is my absolute final correspondence with you, (but I will post this on Samsung Mobile Facebook page) With the big day about to happen, the question is what do you do? Refund or Exchange? Have you made your mind up yet? If you have not been happy with Samsung Singapore treating you as second rate consumer; remembering there was no Blue Coral version at launch, and if you took the pre-booking option, you got the now useless Lens case -- unlike the rest of the world that either got a 256GB micro SD card (UK) or the Gear VR (US). Then, at the first recall, unlike the rest of the world, Singapore was forced to take another Note 7, even though everywhere else got other options. There was no offer of an exchange, no buy back of accessories, no support for people from overseas in Singapore or Singaporeans overseas. There was frustration at website crashes and not being able to get on or do several phones at once, here was limited home delivery options. Then when the new Note7s arrived, a token screen protector and voucher to buy their overpriced accessories. Then came the second recall. When everyone else made announcements Samsung Singapore took the weekend off and made you wait. And when it finally was announced it was another two weeks (it has yet to start). This time there is a refund or exchange. But no reimbursement of the 'expensive' lens case for those who pre-ordered, so your left with a piece of junk to throw in the bin (unlike the 256gb micro sd card), nor is there a refund of expensive accessories unless you bought Samsung (yep more stuff also destined for the bin). And the exchange for a new Note 7 is for a full price, 8 month old Galaxy S7 edge valued at $1,098. Sure they're tossing in a $250 cheque, but when you consider the going rate online is $880 for the 32GB s7 Edge ($780 for the S7) are they really doing you any favours, when you take into account your time and inconvenience? If anything your doing them a favour taking their old stock at full price! If you have not been happy with Samsung's disgraceful treatment of you the consumer, hit them in the one place where they might listen in future. Vote with your wallet, get the refund, buy something cheap, pocket the difference and keep your options open. For the others thinking exchange, why would you be happy having to exchange your New Note 7 for a the old Galaxy S7 Edge. After all it's a 8 month old phone (released in March 2016) and it's being are exchanged for a brand new Note 7. If you'd really wanted the Edge wouldn't you have bought one in the first place? http://mobilesquare.com.sg/en/samsung/644-samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-32gb.html And forget getting a discount on the new Note 8 or the Series 8 that will be released in a few months that will be happening elsewhere. Samsung Singapore's record simply shows they won't discount you anything. If you want the new Note 8 when it arrives in 10 months you'll be paying full price. So save your money! Get the refund, get a cheap phone to keep you going and put the balance toward the new 8 series when their released, and tell them you're putting the money toward the new Note 8 as they aren't giving you any discount in future. Anyway, whichever way you decide, I hope you have more luck with your next device than you did with the Note 7. All the best, David Dixon PS Please, even if you love the Note 7 don't keep it. Aside from being a danger (unlikely but it is), I suspect that Samsung will remotely lower the max power or brick the remaining devices before the end of the year, and I'm not sure where that will leave you when you take it in. Exchange it or refund it - but don't keep it.
