A little over a year ago we adopted Baloo - the sweetest golden retreiver. Sadly he had a couple of families prior to settling with my wife and I (and our cats). Baloo is the fourth golden to be part of our family and he is terrific! 

Sadly, last Victoria Day we discovered he is terrified of fireworks - nobody seemed to know, so we couldn't be forewarned; but even if we had known, we would have adopted him. 

Canada Day - the gabapentin and thundershirt did not work; so we regrouped and drove to a spot in the country (about 25 minutes away) and sat in the dark and quiet until about 11 and drove home. 

This year we have gabapentin and trazadone on board - but will still likely make that drive.

Baloo shakes, barks, paces (and paces) - he just doesn't settle. The level of anxiety is awful! 

So I am asking for fireworks to be banned - not only are they a bad thing for animals; but they pollute, they leave garbage behind, many people find them frightening as well. 

It is time they go.
