Hi Neighbours,
As you are probably already aware from the leaflets posted last weekend, the Headstone South Low Traffic Neighbourhood Trial is finally happening from this Friday 9th October.
I cannot thank you enough for all your help and support. It is only through your efforts that we have reached this incredibly important milestone.
Ahead of the filters going in I’d like to reiterate what I said before the West Harrow filters were installed - please share this information below with local neighbours so they know what to expect:
It is likely that there may be some degree of traffic mess as a result in the next couple of weeks. This is completely expected and happens any time a road layout is changed anywhere, not just with Low Traffic Neighbourhoods. In this case residents know where the filters are so they can avoid them - the most likely problem is going to be people who are not local coming from a distance, or using a sat nav that hasn't been updated yet. They will drive into the area expecting to be able to cut through, encounter the filters, and have to drive straight out again. The good news is they are unlikely to do this more than once!
I'd urge you to reserve judgement on the Headstone South scheme for a few weeks until things settle down - this is one of the reasons that the trials are for six months, because it is known that short term disruption is very likely.
To help reduce the initial disruption, please report the locations of the filters to Google Maps as soon as possible on the 9th. The more people who do this the faster it will be updated, and the sooner vehicles will stop driving in expecting to cut through and having to turn around.
Please also provide feedback on the trial scheme via the link provided on the leaflet when it opens. This includes both positive comments if you like the scheme, and constructive feedback for improvements if you spot anything that you think could be better.
Thank you once again for all your support, and for being so open minded and willing to embrace change. I sincerely hope that the trial is successful and that you and your families all enjoy the opportunity to try out new ways of making local journeys in the next six months.
